Scott Edelman
Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Edelman has managed the successful growth of numerous biotech and software enterprises over the last several decades. Prior to founding AdiCyte with Dr. Harris, Mr. Edelman provided strategic start-up and early stage company consulting services to the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University (3D cell culture models), Radix Biosolutions (biomarker assay development products and services) and Hurel Corporation (3D cell culture models). Mr. Edelman is also a board member of Radix Biosolutions. From 2003 through the summer of 2008, Mr. Edelman was the CEO, President and Board member of CellzDirect, a hepatic cell products and contract research organization that grew profitably from zero to $19M in revenues under his leadership in 5 years with angel and venture capital support. CellzDirect was sold to Life Technologies in 2008 for $60M. Mr. Edelman has a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University and resides in Tucson, Arizona.

David T. Harris, PhD.
Founder, Chief Science Officer

Dr. Harris is a world renowned scientist and 'father' of stem cell banking. Dr. Harris has been cryopreserving stem cells and tissue since 1992 and was the first person to bank stem cells for use by an individual. Dr. Harris began banking stem cells from umbilical cord blood in 1992, and since then, the banking program has grown to be the largest stem cell bank in the world. Dr. Harris now brings the more than two decades of experience to AdiCyte and the processing and cryopreservation of adipose tissue and adipose derived stem cells. A tenured Professor of Immunobiology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Dr. Harris has published more than 150 scientific articles about stem cell preservation and use in transplantation and regenerative medicine.

John Pierce, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Pierce is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with more than 26 years of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, and operates a fully licensed and certified ambulatory surgical facility. He is known for his artistic expertise and surgical innovation, including minimal incision breast lift, minimal incision for correction of turkey neck, and suture suspension facelift. Dr. Pierce has followed adipose stem cells and advances in regenerative medicine for many years and is a member of IFATS, the International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science.

Michael Badowski, PhD.
Director of Laboratory Operations

Entering research in 1999, Dr. Badowski worked in developing methods of gene therapy and delivery of engineered receptor molecules for cancer treatments. Using stem cells as tools in this research has given Dr. Badowski years of experience in the use, isolation, characterization and storage of stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord tissue, adipose tissue, bone marrow, blood and liver.  His more recent career has focused on stem cells and their use in regenerative medicine.  Dr.  Badowski holds degrees in molecular and cellular biology, microbiology and immunology.

"Any use of stem cells will be determined by the treating physician who will consider if they are applicable for the condition. There is no guarantee that treatments being studied in the laboratory, clinical trials, or other experimental treatments (including regenerative medicine applications) will be available in the future."
